The accountancy of marketisation: Fictional markets in housing land supply

چکیده
This article investigates the performative role of accountancy in embedding market mechanisms public services. Drawing on work Karl Polanyi, it argues that marketisation can be understood as a calculative modelling which fiction self-regulating is propagated through concealment social and political practices depends. Exploring this thesis housing land supply, provides forensic study an procedure called Housing Delivery Test modelled ideal English land-use planning system. The points to importance Polanyi's analysis theorising performativity project marketisation, not creating economy they describe but fashioning fictional market.
